La Forge Brittany holiday cottage with pool
When asked 'whats the weather like in Brittany' I always say the same thing to friends and family.' Well as you know Cornwall and Devon tends to be better than the rest of the UK, well Brittany is slightly better than Cornwall or Devon'.
I guess that's why Brittany is one of the most popular regions for English, Dutch and French holiday makers to stay, particularly for families with young children and for those who don't like it to hot.
Most years sunbathing can commence in April, with bright sunny days, however in 2009 I was able to sun bath for 3 weeks in March, the weather was absolutely beautiful. The swimming pool is opened in March and with the heater running it's ready for use for the start of April. We offer a special deal for those wishing to stay for 2 weeks in April.
April 2011 another great month for good weather, its the sixth April I've spent in France and each year its been filled with dry sunny days and a great opportunity to get an early tan.
The pool is open until the end of September ( pool can be open in October depending on date of booking) which also tends to be a great month for getting some late sun even going through too October.
December and January like the UK can get very cold but to be honest I love those nights in with the log fire lit feeling really snug. La Forge holiday cottage has its own log burning stove which heats up the cottage really easily as well as having radiators if required during the low season months. The cottage is a wonderful location to enjoy Christmas or to see the new year in, with the log fire lit and decorated for the festive season, its a home away from home to make a Christmas really special with friends or family.
Eating alfresco at the Brittany holiday cottage
The Brittany holiday cottage with pool has its own private south facing terrace that enjoys the sun all day and is a great location for eating alfresco. Many guest use the BBQ in the garden and enjoy an evening enjoying the Breton sunsets via the terrace and once darkness arrives on request I'll switch the pool lights on for a night time swim, which is a wonderful experience and highly recommended.
Hot summer days at the Brittany holiday cottage
With young children a worry is always keeping them out of the sun, within the garden is the swing set which tends to be in the shade for most of the day, around the pool and on your terrace are umbrella's to protect them also.
If on the other hand you love soaking up the sun's rays, around the pool of the holiday cottage are sunbeds and chairs that remain in the sun for the entire day surrounded by sub tropical planting, creating a very relaxing environment to unwind and enjoy.
Whats the weather been like this week at La Forge
With new guest arriving yesterday at La Forge and the first guest of the season for La Veille maison they were greeted with a hot sunny day and the guest that arrived early in the day enjoyed the swimming pool all day. Today the weather has been very warm with cloud and sun and both sets of guest enjoyed the pool after spending the morning down at the beach.

Latest news at the Brittany holiday cottage
Yesterday I had a wonderful day in Hennebont, all weekend the historic town has held its fantastic medieval festival.
I met up with a group of twenty to take a bike ride along the banks of the river Blavet, it was a hot and sunny day and as I passed one arena on the bike I could see knights on horse back taking part in a jousting competition. It was a wonderful bike ride having ridden 40 kms, the river looked spectacular and I can understand why it was voted best course river in France in 2006.
At the end of the bike ride I spent a few hours walking round the festival market which had been decorated in a medieval style with many people dressed in costume.
Once I got back to the holiday cottage with pool I stopped to chat to the new guest and they had had a great day also, visiting the festival as well.

why I enjoy running the Brittany holiday cottage
Today one set of guest left the Brittany holiday cottage and another arrived. The leaving guest thanked me for a wonderful holiday and said they had a fantastic time going out every day visiting the delights that Brittany has to offer. They said they were really impressed with the Zoo at Pont Scorff and of course Aurrey in particular.
The new guest arrived from Scotland and chatting to them while in the pool they said that they were very impressed with the cottage and that the pictures did not do the cottage justice, it was so much better than their expectations.
Its days like this that makes running a holiday cottage such a delight and thankfully its repeated with every passing guest. For more guest reviews of the Brittany holiday cottage with pool see our guest book.
